Comparing the AM09 with other Dyson products, the AM09 is superior to the similarly designed Dyson AM07 Tower Fan in that the AM09 has the additional heat feature. The heat feature sets the AM09 apart.
On the other hand, the AM09 does not have as many features as the Dyson Pure Hot and Cool Link Air Purifier. Since both the remote control and the fan contain magnets, care must be taken by people who have pacemakers. Electronics and credit cards may also be affected by the magnets and should not be placed near the machine.
When the Dyson AM09 is used for heating, the machine is hot and should not be touched. It should be moved by the base and not by grabbing the air loop amplifier. Because it does not have a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) it can not be used outdoors or in areas with a lot of condensation like bathrooms or laundry rooms. It should not be used in places where there are flammable materials present, like the garage or basement.
It has a 5.9-foot cord, so you should be sure that plugging the AM09 in doesn’t cause a tripping hazard. Since there are no controls on the AM09 itself besides the power button, you must not lose the remote. Without the remote, you won’t be able to change the temperature setting, adjust the fan’s intensity, turn on oscillation, or switch to a focused air stream.
The most notable drawback is that the AM09 is that it is costly. For the same price, you can buy a space heater and a fan and still have money left over. You’ll just have to dust your appliances off after a season of storage.
